Changing email address to one previously used on another deleted profile

Question

I opened a new profile under the rules for adoption to have a second profile.  But either my incompetence or Murphy's Law meant that I had to delete Stynes-18 completely. I have now set up this profile (and it's working ok). However when I try and update the email address, Wikitree rejects it. Presumably because I used the same email address (specifically set up at gmail for my birth name) on the prior deleted profile.  Is there a time frame before the system realises that the email is no longer being used, and I can reuse it on this profile

gmail recognises dotted addresses, so if your email is samanthastone @ gmail, you can also use samantha.stone @ gmail, or any variation thereof. 

What I can NOT tell you is if Wikitree recognises the dotted address as the same, or different.  Most forum software cannot tell that they are the same address, so treats the dotted version as a different one.  (Trust me, I have had more than a decade of dealing with dotted gmail addresses.)
