Hi (Scottisch) WT cousins,

I am working on the, of orignie Scottisch Gordon family that came to The Netherlands in the 17th century to help to drive out the enemy during the 80-year-war. The first of that family that arrived here, around 1645, as a midshipman, to beat the enemy was Robbrecht or Rob(b)ert Gordon born in our around Aberdeen around 1626? His father might have been a James or Jacob Gordon. I like to find/have his baptism note to add to his profile. Can you help me, please?

It will finnish the profile.

This all starts at Robbert Gordon, he is the great-grandson of the Robbrecht or Rob(b)ert Gordon born in Scotland, who moved to The Netherlands to fight. This great-grandson Robert Jacob meant a lot to South-Africa and The Netherlands as he documented a lot about his travels in South-Africa. His documents still exists. An exhibisition was held here with cooperation with all biggies on that like the Rijksmuseum and they even established a website about him.

Robert Jacob was added to an explorer challenge to be connected to our tree. Besides I added children and husbands in the hope they will be connected soon I found leads to add his parents, grandparents and his great-grandparents. I found his great-grand-parents marriages and deathdocs but just wish we can find the birth/baptism of him too.

Can you help us at the Netherlands Project to find the baptism note of  Robbrecht or Rob(b)ert Gordon (probably born in Aberdeen or close around, around 1626, probalbly a son of a James or Jacob Gordon). He arrived at The Netherlands around 1645.

In advantage thank you so much for any effort.

Thank you!

A.

All Scotlands People shows for a Rob* [Gordon] (fuzzy spelling search for the surname) between 1620 and 1630 are six results, and only one near Aberdeen:  Robert Gordone son of George Gordone and Agnes Naren on 27 April 1628 in Aberdeen Parish.

But lots of parishes in the region don't have registers extending back that far, so even if his baptism was recorded, it would reasonably likely that the record doesn't exist any more.
Thank you so much for trying Barry. Much appreciated.

At least we (you) tried! I can be in peace with that.

Hi, Astrid,

My suggestion is for you to contact the Scotland Project's Help Team here: Scotland Help.

Perhaps someone on the page can help, or direct you to resources that will.  You could contact any of the project's leaders or PCs for further direction.

Good luck with your search.

Stay safe!
