My DNA closely matches the family of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Karl (Hessen-Darmstadt) von Hessen und bei Rhein (1837 to 1892) and his descendants. Hessen-Darmstadt-6

DNA tests suggests William Henry ?????  (1871-1946) most likely had a father who was 100% German. This person was likely born between 1800 and 1860 and had family origins from Lower Saxony, Westphalia and Rhine Palatinate.

The Whiting surname was adopted by my illegitimate grandfather at least seven years after his birth. He was registered  by his grandmother using her maiden name (PAGE), then baptised as (PITHER) his mother's maiden name a year after her marriage to Mr Whiting in 1876.
