Josh Alexander, introducing myself

Hi all,

My great aunt gave me a bunch of genealogy records years ago and I'm finally beginning to pore through them. This site is a godsend, because she only traced so far back but there are records here that go back further. I've already learned so much about more distant parts of my ancestry thanks to WikiTree.

She traced the Ward and Brock side of my mom's ancestry. I'm interested to find more about the Alexander side.

At some point I need to get my dad's side on the tree, last name Abbott. I'm going to have to call my other grandma to start getting the dates and other info.

Anyway, that's what I'm up to :-)

I descend from Brocks too. My paternal grandmother was a Brock from New York. Where is your Brock family from?

One of my great grandmas was a Brock from Arkansas, that line traces back to Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, to Germany, to Switzerland where the name came from Brack.

Looks like the line comes from the German Palatine immigrants. Wikipedia says a group of them settled in New York.

Just checked relationship finder, it says we are 14th cousins once removed, but not through the Brocks.
