How do I add a DNA reference for multiple generations?

I have a DNA connection with a 2nd cousin once removed.  Am trying to add the DNA reference language but am confused by the DNA instructions, which I've read several times.  There is a reference to adding language to each child, so presumably that means me to my parent, my parent to her parent, her parent to his parent and back down on the cousin side.  Is that true? If so, do I use the same language of cousin (me) to cousin (match) ?

Also I have added a DNA reference to my parents, but keep getting a Suggestion to correct it, and can't figure out what the error is.  If anyone could help I'd appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Have you reviewed this page? Help Page for DNA Confirmed

To get rid of Suggestions when you have marked a profile as DNA Confirmed, check the "Source citation examples" on that page.  I think the key words are the words 'maternal / paternal relationship', what 'DNA company' was used, the word 'confirmed', as well as the Wikitree ID of yourself and your common ancestor.

Looking at the profile you linked, do you have 'parenthesis' around AncestryDNA or do you have 'Squiggly lines {{ }}'?

  1. None of the examples have the word 'parental'. They have Maternal and Paternal, so that is one thing that could be causing the problem. Check the GEDmatch example which has both stated.
  2. You want the confirmation message on your profile and your brother's profile, but not on your parent's profiles.  The 'How to Add' section states it should be added to the Child's profile.
  3. Check your formatting on your profile to make sure you have brackets [[ and ]] around your Wikitree ID and name, instead of parentheses and 'Squiggly lines {{ }}' around the AncestryDNA
