Trying to find the Gartly & Barclay surname connection

My grandfather's mother was a Gartly, and I was told they at one point had a castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I believe through talking to people in various Scotland research pages that the surname Gartly came from the Barclay (Berkeley) Clan. I'm trying to find when a line switched from Barclay to Gartly. The earliest Gartly I have in my tree is a Samuel Gartly (b. Abt 1790 PA - d. Oct 8, 1862 PA) and lived in Westmoreland County, Pa. I'm hoping that finding the surname connection may help me find Samuel's parents.

Instead of one huge tag that nobody is following, you might want to break it into separate tags (and as there is a limit of, I believe, 6 tags, you'll need to choose which to keep (I recommend retaining Scotland and Aberdeenshire, and selecting which is the most likely spelling of the surnames)) -  gartly gartley barclay berkeley berkley scotland aberdeenshire

A search in the early wills for Westmoreland County for Gartly’s may provide some clues. These, with indexes, are online at FamilySearch.
