Morning all,

I'm a 75 year old pensioner from the UK with a family tree exceeding 3000 individuals - I'm still gradually transfering data from paper to computer. From what little time I've been able to apply to WikiTree so far I find it daunting in the extreme. I came to know of its existance by accident some years ago when I came across Nigel Thorne's (spelling?) finding my 14 x GGF as having been born in 1410. At the time he said it was on the balance of probability. For its time it's a bit of a stretch - but still possible, I've been able to get him back to 1435 using his will. So I thought perhaps, on a quid pro quo basis the members of WikiTree and I could help each other. However, at my age I don't have time to go backwards over 500 years of data, so what I intended to do was start at AD 1500. If this is ok with wikitree, fine; if not I'm out of here.

Hello Alan,

Welcome to WikiTree! I think the England Team might be very helpful to you.

He already has a profile (Culmer-64), so that's a start. However it has a distinct lack of sources at the moment, so hopefully one of our pre-1500 experts will be able to dig something out for you. You may wish to add the tags pre-1500 and England to your question to attract their attention.

See wills here:

The most significant is the will of Richard Culmer of St. Peter's, Thanet in 1485.  He did not have a son Thomas as currently shown on WikiTree.  He names only a son Richard, and the two sons of Richard namely Nicholas and Thomas. Nicholas appears to be of age, while Thomas was under aged 22.

Welcome to WikiTree and thank you for coming to our g2g forum. You are receiving good advice from our other genealogists here, but I think the best thing you can do at this time would be to upgrade to a family membership.

You would then be able to add a tag for Culmer which would connect you to the other Culmer's on WikiTree. It would also mean that you would be able to start adding your ancestors here.

Thank you for introducing yourself and welcome once again to WikiTree.
