New member introducing myself

Hello,

My name is Dee and I've been a member for awhile. I've done a lot of researching for my ancestors, most recent ones from western Md. However, I have 1 2x g grandfather (Robert Murray) who came to the US from Scotland as a baby. I also have a 3x g grandfather (Michael Cosgrove) who emigrated in 1840's from Ireland.

I have found a lot of information about them digging through court records in Md., but, as is the case, hit the proverbial "brick wall" going back even further to Scotland and Ireland. I've had the opportunity to visit both Scotland and Ireland. A dream come true.

Thank you for all you do on this site. I'm still learning the ropes. And much of it is confusing to me.  lol

Any help, is appreciated!

Cheers!

Dee

Welcome to Wikitree and the G2G forum. The forum is a great place to ask for help. I have several pieces of advice - new to wikitree, use the drop down menus in the top right corner of most pages - New to genealogy, write down your sources so you or someone else will know how to find them later. Since you mentioned court records, I can see you're looking in right places. Good for you.

Hi Dee, welcome to G2G! When you get stuck on a profile you can come to G2G to ask for help. It really helps if you link the profile to your post, that way it is easier for us to help you search. Make sure to tag your post if it is about someone in Scotland add the tag Scotland. That helps draw the attention of others following that tag.

Since your interests are moving your research into Scotland and Ireland areas, you may want to join one or both of those projects. It would help you learn more about their records and other various things that may affect the results of your research. It helps to know more about time periods and customs in different areas when you are trying to locate information.
