I need to find information on a WWII German soldier, Wilhelm Sasse.

Recently I have been fortunate enough to acquire a group of artifacts found in a single foxhole near Konigsberg Russia, one of which was a helmet with a name painted on the inside, belonging to Wilhelm Sasse. It is known that he was born on 1/24/1905, and went Missing in action 3/01/1945. He was captured by the Russians and presumably executed. I have no idea when he joined the army, who his family was, did he have any children, where he was born, what he looked like or anything of that nature. I would love to know as much as possible about this man and his life. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are multiple Wilhelm Sasse listed in the Database by the Volksbund (the Voksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V. records, preservs and maintains the graves of German war dead abroad.) at volksbund.de

The most fitting one is this one here: https://archiv.volksbund.de/graebersuche/detailansicht.html?tx_igverlustsuche_pi2%5Bgid%5D=1a6df682ef71588462de5d1376b6ccfa&cHash=a73158997416305104ca91b23198ce7e

If that is the correct one, you can order a copy of the records that has all the personal information from the Volksbund. You also might want to ask the Department "Information on Personal Data related to World Wars I and II" (Personenbezogene Auskünfte – PA) of the Federal Archives’ in Berlin-Reinickendorf, Germany. The whole purpose of the Department is to identify evidence of war captivity of German soldiers, assists in clarifying missing persons’ fates and provides information.
