Hello everyone!!

My name is Lex and I am a 19 year old History major who has started researching my genealogy. It started as a personal interest to write an essay about early modern European warfare, and has spiralled into my favourite side hobby. I am very grateful that my Father, Mother, and Step-Father's families have all done genealogical research so I am just researching all of the information myself.

My DNA kit comes in soon and I am excited to see if there is anything else hidden. My father's side is Russian-Mennonite and my grandfather came over with his family. My mother's side is Irish-Scot and came over much earlier. I am also very grateful the Mennonites are so organized with their baptisms, haha!

I have met a few dead ends and am just here to see if I can scrounge up any more information. I am very excited to research and see if others can help, and possibly offer my help to others.

- Lexi :)

Welcome.  It is enouraging to see someone young take an interest in Genealogy.  Many of us come to it late when the ones with the family knowledge have already passed on and taken their memories with them.  I hope you find some new connections on Wikitree.  The benefit of Wikitree compared with other Family History sites is that there is a single profile for each individual, and every one who is descended from that individual is linked to it.  Other sites copy data from one tree to another and you end up with mutiple conflicting versions.  Good luck with your research.
