Capt William Dexter Walker born 22 May 1787, Dummerston Center, Windham Co., Vermont

Death 9 Sep 1848 (age 62 years, 3 months, and 20 days) Burial at Fansher Cemetery, Florence, Lambton Co., Ontario, Canada, in Row 10 Plot 40.

Parents are Jonas Walker 1749-1817 and Sarah Davis Walker 1753-1831. Spouse is Juliet G Parrish Walker 1795-1815. Siblings are Sewell Walker 1797-1868 and Reuben Walker 1798-1885.

Children are Lavina Grenville Walker Fansher 1815-1885 and Frederick Walker 1826-1899.

Captain Walker's tombstone has an inscription that is difficult to read and the tombstone is leaning over and I was not able to enlarge the photo posted on Find A Grave.

Looks like his two brothers stayed in Vermont and one was a medical doctor.

He would have been 25-28 years old during the War of 1812, which lasted from 1812 into 1815. There were no major battles in Vermont in that war, but he could have served in northern New York state.

If the inscription on his tombstone can be discerned, that might help in knowing more.

I believe from some searching today that he served under Captain John Machesney in the Vermont 16th Regiment As a ‘2nd’. I take that as a 2nd Captain maybe?
