Does anyone have ancestors who emigrated from the UK to Australia on the Bussorah Merchant in 1853?

Im putting together the stories of the voyage and those who emigrated to Australia from the UK on the Bussorah Merchant, arriving in 1853.

I want to know how they got on an if any of them stayed in touch after their time together onboard.

I dont know where to find the ships log as yet, or info related to the departure, although there is plenty on the arrival..

Any feedback welcomed, especially if your ancestor was onboard so I can update the table and look for any connections with their fellow passengers

Hi Leisa, one of my 16 great great grandparents, Jane Elliott emigrated in the Bussorah Merchant but in 1839.  Unfortunately her profile isn't very well developed at this stage.

Thanks John! I hadn't seen it.  That page is orphaned now, but I have messaged Margaret to see if she would like me to incorporate the info and add her to the trusted list.

Hi Leisa,

I have connected the Biddle family to the WikiTree and I will create the remaining children's profiles later today.

Hello Leisa,

My paternal great great grandfather was Henry Edward TYLER. He along with his wife Elizabeth, and their 2 daughters, Letitia and Elizabeth arrived in Sydney aboard the Bussorah Merchant in 1853. They would go on to have a total of 12 children. They are recorded as Pioneers of the Richmond River. At the time of Henry's death in 1875 the family ran and owned the Star hotel in Wardell. A lot of my ancestors are buried at the Wardell Bush cemetery.

I am currently studying the Family history diploma at UTAS, so I'm learning how to dig deep to find facts. Wonderful journey.
