Nicola Sanger trying to find my family tree

I really want to find out who I am related to on my Sanger side. My grandfather was James Sanger, Sr born in London -- probably in the early 1910s or 1920s. He had a brother Frederick who moved to America. My Grandad and Great Uncle Fred never spoke after Uncle Fred got involved with the gangster scene in London, My Grandad served in WW2.

This is as far as I have got, my dad has Alzheimers now so can't help.

Is there anyone out there who knows us?

I hope you find what you are looking for!
Have you tried a DNA test? If Fred had any children or grandchildren who have tested, they should show up on your match list. Ancestry is the best to start because they have the most tests and trees that you can use to piece together.
Hi, Nicola --

I edited your post to remove your father's name & birth year. As Michel mentioned below, we can't discuss living people here in the forum. :-)

Having your grandfather's and great uncle's names and estimated birth dates and locations will help.

I also added a couple more tags to bring some more people in to help you look for records.

Good luck with your research!
Thank you, yes I'm thinking about this now, didn't know if it would be that useful.
Thank you very much for your help.

Nicola --

I hope you'll take Hilary's advice below. Our England project has a lot of generous volunteers who may be able to help, and their Orphan Trail is a fantastic way to learn how to research.

Best of luck!

Hey Nicola,

Welcome to G2G. The best thing to do is to add the basics here at WikiTree. Note that we can never discuss living people, so please remove your father's name from your post. This website is open for the whole world to see. The name of your grandfather should be the clue to add.

If you upgrade for free to Family member you can start adding profiles. You can then add all the information you know about your grandfather in the profile.

We are all volunteers here, and can only work on public documents and non living people. It might be wise to consult a professional genealogist in the country of your search. They can help you better for recent events.

Start adding what you know and sign up on Free to access websites.

The England Project has an Orphan Trail which may be helpful for you to sign up for as well.

Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:How_to_Get_Started_with_Genealogy  for tips.

I have posted information about how to upgrade which you'll need to do so you can start building your tree.

One of my relatives married a SANGER so we may have a connection somewhere.

I just dropped by to welcome you to Wikitree. So glad that you are part of us. You have been given excellent advice, and even some great hints on your question.

It would be great to see you upgrade to a family membership, and you have also been given instructions on how to accomplish that.

I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.
