I have plenty of information that ultimately goes nowhere.
My grandfather would not talk about "the old country." The one thing he said was that he left lots of brothers and sisters back home - that just he and his sister came here.
Here's what I've figured out; My great-grandfather was Louis P. Rothbart. He came to the USA in 1910. By 1915 the census had him listed as widowed. In my "when you are older" book - m grandmother from the other (my mother's ) side remembers something "lea or lee:" There is a Liba Leah that is a possibility - but she disappears. There is also a small chance that my great-great-grandparents are Pinchus and Sylvia Malka Joseph - but again - one record and nothing else. I
know my grandfather (Abe/Abraham/Abram) and his sister Chaja/Chana/Ida came from Zyrardow/Ziradow/Giradow in 1910. He was 17, she 26. He got a job at Yonah Shimmel's selling hot sweet potatoes from a cart. He went out west and was a KA-boy (cowboy) for a year or two. He got married, settled down, opened a gas station, and had three children.
I am looking for the Zyrardow records (did I actually have many great aunts and uncles or was that just a story?) Who was my great-grandmother? What did my great-grandfather do before he came to the USA?
Cn anyone help?
