Project Denmark transitioning to umbrella of Nordic Project

+6 votes

Members of the Denmark Project:

We are well along with the process of Project Denmark moving to be under the umbrella of the Nordic Project.

I know that Project Denmark did not use its Google Group very much in the past, but with this new format that will be changing.  The Nordic Project will be conducting most of its discussions and work on the new Nordic Project google group to facilitate the cooperation with the other groups for Sweden, Norway, and Finland and to ease the load for our leaders who will be supporting all of us.

So, if  you are interested in continuing to work with the Denmark Project, please contact one of the following people to provide them with both your WikiTree Id and the email address you wish to use to monitor the Nordic Project Google Group.

Mary Jensen (Brandt-1372)

Maggie Andersson (Andersson-4409)

Juha Soini (Niskakoski-1)

Please note: you do not have to learn to use the google group interface to monitor the Nordic Project google group.  If you ask us to set you membership to digest, you will usually get one email a day containing all the messages (up to a total of 25) which you can quickly browse to see if there is anything of interest to you.  Alternatively, you can ask us to put your settings on "each email" which will send each email individually and allow you to participate entirely through your own email system that you are familiar with. We do not anticipate having more than a few messages each day.  If you have concerns about sharing information with Google, I suggest you create a separate anonymous type email with a provider of your choice with limited to no access to your personal information and use that email address for the google group.

For members of the Denmark Project, we are also asking you to take a look at the section of our Resource Page on Working the Profiles and to select at least one area listed in that section where you are willing to work on improving profiles of people with a connection to Denmark.  Please include that information in your message.

We are also looking for one or two people willing to work with coordinating the profile improvement work.  This will mostly involve staying in contact with people, encouraging all of us to keep working on Danish profiles, and keeping our leaders and coordinators in the loop on what people are working on. If you are willing to help with this, please contact Mary Jensen (Brandt-1372).

Wasn't there a fledgling of an Icelandic project at one time?
There are a few Icelanders and descendants here and a few thousand icelandic profiles.

I've been trawling the G2G for Iceland activity, but there hasn't been very much of it. Even for Norway, where I'm the Project Coordinator, there seems to be too few WikiTree members with enough interest in the subject to form a vigorous community. That's why I personally welcome the Nordic project, as a way to broaden the base for Nordic culture here on WikiTree.

There's certainly room for Icelanders under the Nordic project, which you of course are welcome to join. Please visit the project's home page; you'll find that the Iceland flag is already there. And,  given sufficient interest, it would be easy to create an Iceland Team under the Nordic Project umbrella.

Thank you Leif. I'm already a member through the Danish project.
