As I build my profile pages, is there any way to quickly navigate between them?

ie. If you're on profile page "A" and link to profile page "B", is there
> a way on the 2nd page to allow you to return to the previous profile page

Hmmm. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean, and the simple answer is probably "no" but FWIW:

  • Nuclear family members are linked from all profile pages. That is, a person's mother, father, spouse(s), siblings and children are all linked from the top of the person's profile.
  • You can usually use the back button on your browser. :-)

I open each linked page in a new tab, (right click, open new tab, click)  that way all the past profiles are still open.

Tom: Is there a way to hardcode that procedure when someone clicks on a highlighted word?
Chris Whitten might be able to help with this, I just do it semi-automatically.
As a novice at all this, I'm not sure what you mean by 'semi-automatically"?
just my reflexes, I routinely open new links in a new tab, so I can go
back where I want, (except when I forget.)
Jim: You might be able to change your browser settings to automatically open links in a new tab (though this will apply to everything you do in the browser and can sometimes be annoying). Also, if you have a mouse with a centre button or scroll wheel, clicking with that on a link opens the link in the new tab. On a laptop this is usually accomplished by clicking with both buttons at once.
If you right-click on a link (Windows, someone else will have to answer if you're using a Mac) you get the option, Open Link in New Tab.  WikiTree internal links to another profile are normally done as [[Doe-1 | John Doe]], giving you an underlined link reading "John Doe."  But you could use any text you like in that construction to make a link.  For example, [[Doe-1 | his father]] could be used in the bio of his son, giving the text "his father" and linking to his father.
You can also click on the link with the CTRL key pressed down. This will automatically open the link in a new browser tab. The best thing is that it will be opened in the background so that you can press all links on a page before 'processing' the pages :)
I just commented on a different question,* wondering how to code it so the link opens in a new tab/window.  The difference being that the person browsing doesn't have to remember to do it.  (But who knows, maybe having the link decide annoys some people?)

Cheers,
Liz

Is there a list of all the Wiki mark-up (or formatting) language for easy access as one enters their text areas? - http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1131/there-wiki-formatting-language-easy-access-enters-their-areas

This is probably not the answer you are looking for but the bare bones answer to your question is: to return to page A from page B right click your mouse & hit the back option or use your browsers back button. this will allow you to go to the last page you were on.
