Joe Simmons was a friend and partner to Jeff (soapy) Smith in Creede Colorado in 1892.  He is also my great great grandfather.

He had a son with a woman named Anna Christine blank (don't know maiden name).

Their son reported both were from Germany in a 1930 census.

Any help in finding more about either Joseph or Anna Christine would be greatly appriciated.

Hi, have you gotten anywhere with this inquiry?  Hit me up with an email and I will see if I can help you out.  What is his son's name by the way?  reneef1964@yahoo.com - thanks, Christine

Joe Simmons's son was born in Denver in 1876 and was named William (Bill) Simmons.

I also found that Joe and Soapy were childhood friends - so that prob. means he too was born in GA.  So I am going out on a limb here and state that Joe was prob. born about the same time as Soapy in 1860.  Here is an email addy (soapysmi@soapysmith.net)  and maybe they would have some answers for your question.  I will plug in the info I have gathered on Ancestry.com and see what I get.  Feel free to email me with any questions.

Very interesting to hear Joe and Soapy were childhood friends.  Is that from the book cited?  If not, do you have a source?  A poem was written about Joe in the Creede Chronicle when he died.

Hello!  Yes, the links I included in your message show where my sources came from.

I, too, have been searching for information about Joe Simmons, and I am now  certain that Joe Simmons and a man named "Josiah Boren Simmons" are one and the same.  Josiah was the youngest son of Caleb Woodson Simmons and according to Ancestry.com was born in 1862 in Smith, Texas. Joe Simmons was my GGrandfather and using DNA information was able to confirm my theory.  Now... how did Joe Simmons end up in Denver and meet Anna Christine Hanson (who later married William Harrison Sisk)?
