Shared Photo: The McClellan Family

This photo is of John Unger McClellan John McClellan with his second wife Eleanor Ann McKee McClellan and his 11 children, 4 from his first marriage to Mary Clark and 7 from his second marriage. This pictures was taken in the family home, on the land that was settled in about 1830.  Location: Alton, Ontario, Canada. Eleanor died in 1895 so the photo must have been taken before then. Date: Before 1895

They were 'pillars' of the community, his grandparents were some of the original settlers in the area.

I am searching for the connection of MacClellan cousins to my mom's (Shaw) side. My grandma's family lived in Palmerston, just 20-30 miles away, a days ride back then,  1880s - 1920s.

What makes you think there is a connection? I have no Shaws in this McClellan family's history. If you have more info, maybe I can help.

The last name is McClellan no D and not MacClellan with or without a D.

John Unger McClellan is the son of William McClellan 1804- 1881 and Emmeline Unger, Grandson of John McClellan 1774- 1868 and Jane Thompson and grt grandson of William McClellan 1747-before 1833, he emigrated from Ireland to upper New York state in 1768.
