Adding a Northern Ireland Category

I need to add a Northern Ireland category to Great Britain. I used the other subcategories as a template, but its [[Category:Northern Ireland, Great Britain]] is still red.

I fixed the category to be [[Category:Northern Ireland]], subcategory of [[Category:Europe]].

A category link appears as red until you edit it and add something to the page. Generally that something should be a category, so in this case [[Category:Great Britain]].

That being said, I'm not sure this category should be called Northern Ireland, Great Britain. Great Britain isn't a country, so this doesn't quite follow the standards used elsewhere. I'd go with either just Category:Northern Ireland or Category:Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

Thanks for helping to create categories! :)

Hi Margaret,

Yes, Northern Ireland is not connected with Great Britain (which comprises England, Scotland and Wales).  Hence the term - the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Oh, good point. Wow, I wrote an answer about how the category shouldn't be called Northern Ireland, Great Britain, without even realising that Northern Ireland is not in fact on Great Britain. :) And I thought I was good at geography! Haha.
