What is the maximum megabytes allowed for a photo to upload?

I don't think Marion's link answers the size question.  It says here somewhere (can't put my finger on it now) that max file size is 10 MB.  But I have seen some complaints from people about uploading problems when their own software is telling them the file is small enough, so in some cases you may need to try something even smaller before it will go.

On the upload page under step 1, it says "If you're having trouble, note that files need to be in JPG, GIF, PNG, or PDF format and be 10MB or less."

10 MB is written on the concerning Help-page.

But sometimes I have problems to upload images with more than 2 MB.

I now reduce the the size of an image always to less than 2 MB before uploading.
