Can I add sources to a project page I’m not a member of?

I’m going to start maintaining a list of sources that I’ve used in one or more profiles that may be of general use for a place, surname, or category. For now, I just plan to put it in my profile. If a source seems useful to project, can I freely add it to the project’s list of sources or does the project need to vet the source? Does the policy vary by project? I could take the safe and lazy way and provide the source via a comment on the project page...

My suggestion would be to contact the projects involved with an example. And in the meantime, add to the comments fields. Each project may have a different way of handling and vetting additions to their trusted sources list.

If the source is of general use, consider https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Category-Source

Your sources might also already be there!

hi, as Kay said, there are sources already in the Source categories, which are currently getting reorganized to make them easier to find in categories overall.

As far as sources for specific projects, most projects have source lists already, and some are graded as to dependability.  So would say contact the project involved, a comment on the project's sources page is the best method.

As a project leader I always welcome new sources suggested in the Comments section of either our Reliable Sources page or on the main Project Page. Or on my profile. Any way you want. Good sources are a treasure.

In general the Puritan Great Migration project requests that sources not used in the biography be added under "see also."

We have editing guidelines for project profiles here:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Puritan_Great_Migration and follow the links.

Thank you.
