Advice before adding of this pre-1700 Tyler profile?

Question

I can add a to the profile of Robert Tyler Sr.. This is who I can add:

• Laurence Tyler. Tyler-425

These are the sources I am using:

• Burial records from Staplehurst Cemetery, Kent, England

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Thank you for asking in G2G.  Robert Tyler is not known to be a son of Lawrence Tyler, and in fact has been previously disconnected The will of Laurence Tyler does not name a son Robert, and there is no baptism to suggest this is true.

The will of Laurence Tyler (Tyler-425) indicates there are five children. However, the burial record of Laurence Tyler in Staplehurst Cemetery in Kent, England, states he was the father of ten children, including Robert Tyler (b. 1635). This is where the discrepancies arrive.

Burial records don't name children.  Can you post the record you are talking about?

EDIT: his burial record reads simply 17 March 1663(4) Lawrants Tylar an antient man

Hi! Thanks for linking to the Find A Grave page. Unfortunately, while the site appears to give lots of info, it’s not sourced.  The image doesn’t list any children, and the will transcript does not list a Robert. The only mention of a Robert is in the FindAGrave writer’s list of children, which doesn’t have any citations. This is not evidence of a familial link. Robert Tyler’s father is unknown, and he cannot be linked to Laurence. Sorry!
