Check spelling variations I have a Cougar/ Kaugher/ Coucher they are all the same family. Remember people often were writing what the name sounded like to them when recording names as many people couldn't read or write

There is also a William Couch married with children in Gilmer County, Georgia listed on the 1850 census.

He is the son of Benjamin https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Couch-1483  and Nancy.   I have had pretty good luck with their research over time.

They have Nancy Unknown-312162 passing away about 1791 so I can’t add William as her son
