There are many ways. I started out with adding mine at the bottom and have now graduated up to the in text citations as I became more comfy. You work at your level and if you need help ask for it just like you did here.
This being said a helpful tip for you is that when you go into edit your profile on the right side of the page is a guide to citations and the sources page that everyone has commented and added. I have found that if you want to link mom and dad in the biography they are listed on the right side if known and linked. This makes it easy for you to copy and paste them. There is also a citation machine link that you can use to properly cite your sources I highly recommend using it.
DO NOT for get to add categories. At the top of the biography box there is a section that you can search for the right category and it will add it in simply by clicking on it. Adding categories can help you to have folks add more sources for you that you may no have. This also helps add the person in for someone to help you correct any booboos that you may make (today I mispelled something and someone caught it for me).
