I'm pre-1700 and pre-1500 certified, but can't save changes through GEDCOMpare?

Question

Using GEDCOMpare for the first time!!

I am already pre-1700 and pre-1500 certified.

I have resolved all suggested matches via GEDCOMpare.

For one of my confirmed matches, my GEDCOM has additional sourced data not found in the current WikiTree profile. (Yay!!) I selected the option in GEDCOMpare to edit the existing WikiTree profile, and used the GEDCOMpare edit screen to [1] update birth and death date and location fields, and [2] manually edit the bio with narrative and sources.

When I clicked the "Save Changes" button, nothing happened. At all. Many times. No error message, just, nothing.

I backed out and tried editing other matched profiles from my GEDCOMpare list. I found that this problem only seems to happen when the pre-1700 warning banner appears on the GEDCOMpare edit page. I was able to use GEDCOMpare edit to update post-1700 profiles and could Save Changes just fine. But I still can't update pre-1700 ones.

I am certified!

I opened a separate browser window and went directly to the profile in question and edited it by hand - not using GEDCOMpare - and I was able to do that with no trouble. But I thought GEDCOMpare was supposed to work in this situation?

What am I doing wrong?

Cheryl, I might be wrong on this but I don't believe you can use GEDCOMpare to edit pre-1700 or pre-1500 profiles even when you are certified.

Implied (my interpretation) by this section of the GEDCOMpare help page, pre-1500/pre-1700 certified members should be able to edit profiles through GEDCOMpare:

Help:GEDCOMpare#Completed_rows .

If that is not so, we need clarification regarding what we can and cannot do with GEDCOMpare.

Hi Cheryl. Just to be sure… When you say that nothing happened and there was no error message, did you scroll up to the top of the Edit page? Often error messages appear up there, and if one is looking at the bottom of the page where one of the  SAVE CHANGES  button is, they are easy to miss.

According to Help:Pre-1500_Profiles#GEDCOM_Imports, "Pre-1700 profiles cannot be imported through GEDCOMs even when the uploading member has Pre-1700 and Pre-1500 Certification."
