he died in 1939 and Death Notice did not give the name of either his mother or father
in Genealogy Help by
Do you know where he was born or where he lived at some time during his life?
he was married in East London had 4 daughters and moved to Transvaal about 1927. He owned property in Nahoon East  London and also in Jhb. He died in Roodepoort 1939 at age 58. He was married to Sarah Johanna du Preez.  Death Notice says he was born in Kaap Provinsie.
Looks like most people by that name in SA spell in Salomon. I am doing some searches on familysearch.org. Have not found any sure matches yet.

Yes it is likely that his marriage was in Dutch Reformed Church East London and his wife was Sarah Johanna Du Preez.  Her line I can take right back to 1700's. My late husband and all his siblings thought their  grandfather was Soloman Ignatius Potgieter  but that is not what Death Notice or his will said. It is very baffling
