The PIKE Surname DNA Project currently has 23 different groups or twigs which are genetically distinct PIKE family lines. Which one are you in*?

And if you know a male PIKE that hasn't had their Y-DNA tested, suggest they get tested as globally the number of genetically different (and therefore unrelated) Pike family lines found so far is at least 53.

* I'm in "Group 6" a descendant of James Pike b. ~1620 Pike-422 somewhere in England.

Zebulon Pike of Pikes Peak fame is in "Group 1" and marked with a blue square.

Ezra Pike (1761 - 1840)  is my 6th great grandfather.

Several trees suggest that Ezra's father was Jarvis Pike as you show. On Ancestry, a tree says his parents were John Pike and Sarah Bacon Hyde. That would mean that you are "Group 6". From past research, I know the Isle La Motte Pikes are "Group 6". This is documented in  Ruth Pike's book "Some Descendants of James Pike of Charlestown and Reading, Massachusetts and The Times in Which They Lived". It's 131 pages long so use a high speed connection, and then print. It will take awhile to open. [1]

Hi Stu, I'm working with a client whose last name is Pike. He hasn't yet taken a YDNA test, but in light of the fact they have such a great Pike DNA Project, I'm going to recommend he do so. The farthest back I've gone on his line is John William Pike  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pike-5791

It gets a bit murky after that. I'd love to see what YDNA will do to further the research on this line.

Looks like group 8 may be his line?

Adair, Kentucky Pikes are "Group 8".
