Lisa: Welcome to WikiTree. I see that you have added a number of family profiles. I have added a FindAGrave link to your great-grandfather's profile. The FindAGrave page for Robert Arnold Trouten has a different birth date, but it includes a photograph of his obituary from a local newspaper. The obituary lists your grandfather as his son. It also lists the name of his wife and his parents.
