Should a misleading paragraph on Thomas Morris's profile be removed? [closed]

On the profile of Thomas Morris there is a paragraph quoting from a 1911 book that indicates deep ancestry (to Athelstan Glodrydd). It says the name Morris is of great antiquity. On WikiTree all that we've been able to document is the name of his father, John Morris. Does anyone have more information to document his Morris line? Does anyone object to my removing this paragraph from the profile?

Having had a look at the paragraph in question, and looked at it in the original text, here:

IMO it's not really a claim about his ancestry; it's just a sort of fanciful description of the history of the name Morris, or the "family" of Morris.

The reason we'd keep such a thing would be to fend off people who tried to add back false ancestors. But since there's no actual genealogy or false parents given, I think your best course is to just delete, and remove the source, since nothing else in the profile cites it.

You might add a Research Notes section to the profile, and put the paragraph there, along with a comment that Thomas' lineage prior to his his father has not been ascertained.

I would go this route as it provides a warning and indication that we saw that claim and are warning against it. If we remove it entirely, a well meaning descendant may come along and put it back and argue for the lineage. This has happened too many times in the past.

I would feel free to take it out. It's common fluff found in genealogy books to make descendants feel important. Not particularly relevant that that particular profile.
