I am tracing the bloodline of my German wife (Snook/Schnuck), did fine up to her GGGG grandfather Johannes William Snook (Snook-2001), born abt 1700 in Nordhofen, Nordhofen, Westerwaldkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany then hit a stone wall with his father Jacob Schnuck (Schnuck-45), where credible sources seem to be non-existent. Would appreciate any help.

I have checked archion and ancestry. At the moment there are no churchbooks for the parish of Nordhofen, Westerwaldkreis publicly accessible on both websites.

In church terms, Nordhofen, Westerwaldkreis does not belong to the state church of the Rhineland but to the state church of Hessen-Nassau, Dekanat Westerwald.

Are you sure that your ancestors come from Nordhofen, Westerwaldkreis?
There are three other places with the name Nordhofen in Germany:
- Nordhofen, municipality of Deisenhausen, county of Günzburg, Bavaria,
- Nordhofen, Kirchberg an der Iller municipality, Biberach county, Baden-Württemberg
- Nordhofen, municipality of Sonneborn, county of Gotha, Thuringia
