On my great grandfather’s death certificate it lists his mother, Anastasia Burnett Butler, as born in Leatland. John Butler her husband was born in England. After searching I found a Leat in Cornwall, a very small area. Has anyone come across this place name before? I had always thought the Butlers were Irish but they could have moved to England. John and his wife emigrated to Newfoundland by 1855, where their son was born. Thanks.
