Using the 1776 Sticker generates an 885 Error

I have a fair number of New England cousins who served in the American Revolution.

I put the 1776 Sticker on their page, entered their military unit in the "unit(s)=" area and left the "unit=" blank because I'm not sure about all the units, etc., most of which are not presently in the categorization lists. Every one of these people now has an 885 error, even though the "unit=" is empty.

I'd like to fix it, but many of these units are undocumented anywhere but in the Stetson Genealogy which is derivative.

Anyway, I thought the stickers were so we could identify veterans of various conflicts without all the categorization effort.

They made the 1776 Template simpler since many people did not have dates or units available, but those items were being shown. Many people created the 1776 template with only the Category of American Revolution and nothing more, so there are a lot of 885 Suggestions from that Template.  The conversion of the 1776 template has to be done, probably by a person, at least when any of the parameters have been entered, since many people did not include the information in the biography.  That information now needs to be added, if it doesn't exist.

Many of us have been working on those Suggestions.
I will be clearing all of mine in the next couple of days.

But the Help screens had not been updated until just recently. I was putting all my Revolutionary War guys in back in Sept and Oct.

Thanks for steering me to the new help page - I have the veteran area linked.

I wish some I ne would edit the sticker help page. Thats what I used to put all these in....
Which page are you referring to?  Can you post a link?  thanks

1776 Template page was changed a while ago, stating

"This sticker is being retired and replaced with the new 1776 Sticker"

1776 Sticker only needs Rank and Unit now.  The Unit needs to have 'American Revolution' included at the end of the Unit field, but the Unit can have the '<State>, American Revolution' or '<State> Militia, American Revolution' if you don't know the numerical Regiment.

Use the Category Builder icon above the Biography text to find what categories have been created since those are what can be used in the Unit field.  The Unit field becomes the Category linked with the profile.
