There has been controversy surrounding Harman Back for years now. I'm posing a challenge to all those who claim to be a direct descendant of Harman Back, who is my 6th. great grandfather on my biological father's side to take the 700 marker test or similar testing to find out what your Y-DNA is, mine is E-FT137267, this is down a ways from V22.

Harman Back (born in Freudenberg, Germany in 1708), sailed to America in 1738 and settled in Little Fork, Virginia in 1739. He sailed with his wife and their one child, a son named Harman Back Jr. (born 3-10-1737). That was their only child. Harman Back Jr. had 3 children that can be documented: Joseph (1756-1832); Harman (1764-1815); and Jacob (1770-1805). In order to descend from Harman Back, you would have to descend from one of the three children of Harman Back's only son, Harman Back Jr. Unfortunately, there is a fraudulent DNA Project on "FamilyTreeDNA" called "Bach to Back." The Administrator of that Project wrote in the name of Harman Back as being the "Paternal Ancestor" of every person who participated in her Project, in the "Paternal Ancestor" column. She also lied about the ancestry of each participant on the "About us/Results" page. She created this DNA Project in order to "prove" that members of the Bach (Back) family from southeastern Kentucky descend from Harman Back. But they most certainly do not. What she has done is so sick and so twisted. People need to understand that she is committing fraud. She needs to be exposed for what she is doing. See this website for a complete explanation: https://Back-BachGenealogicalSociety.com.
