The following is a link to my 5xgg, Peter Zittel's death record in Cleebourg, France that I just found earlier this week. It's the record on the bottom left of the pages.

http://archives.bas-rhin.fr/detail-document/ETAT-CIVIL-C74-P1-R56394#visio/page:ETAT-CIVIL-C74-P1-R56394-3077098

I can make out that his death was on 4 Mesidor Year X - 23 June 1802. His parents are Johannes Zittel and Elisabetha Stempfel. His wife was Rosina Hauck - her father, Jacob Hauck. Declarants are Peter's 3 sons, Peter, Johannes and Balthasar.

The record also says that his birth was on 15(?) March 1756(?), I think.

Does it say he was born in Cleebourg or just died there? Does it say where he was born?

Also, does it say Rosina Hauck was born in Rott?

Anything of note about the sons in the record?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Thanks for the star Erin

Hi Dieter,

Thank you for translating the record!

Hi Erin,

Thanks for building out and sourcing your ancestral profiles here! The Bas-Rhin archives are a great resource.

Bas-Rhin can be used in the place name for locations in that area starting in 1790 (when it and other French departments were created). Prior to 1790, the region (Alsace) should be used in the place names in that area since Bas-Rhin didn't exist at that time. See the France Project Location Fields Guidelines for more details on French place naming guidelines.

Rick,

Thank you for the place name tip! I hope I can remember to do this correctly instead of just clicking the place name from the dropdown menu...

~Erin
