Lances or James? [closed]

Is the name Lances or James? It seems someone posted a comment this morning saying the name is James Joseph.

Wanted to get another opinion (or a few) on this, the more the merrier!

I think you have to be signed in to Ancestry for it to work, I have no idea how to get around that.

Now for your question: it is James.  One of the uprights is missing (probably faded away) which makes it look like Lances.

Thank you also! A new member commented and said it was James, it looks like James also but the first letter threw me off. Thank you again!
The problem is how the scribe writes their Js.  It is so very similar to how they scribe their Ls. (See John Lakeman, 2 entries above.)
