The census 1787 state that Ole Sørensen is a son of the second marriage eg. mother is Bodil Hansdatter - Søren Jensens wife in the same census. Margrethe Hansdatter who carried him at christening likely - if traditions are followed - a sister to the mother.

Their marriage is 26 p trinitatis 1769 in same parish ref 2nd last entry 1769 left hand side

Soren's first wife was buried on 23 of Sept or Nov? 1769.

So on the 26 Sept or Nov? 1769 the boy child of Soren and his recently buried wife died? 27 Sept or Nov? one of Soren's daughters also died - Inger.

Then Soren is married to Bodil in 11 Feb 1770 and has Ole baptised in month? 1770.  It seems so quick after the death of his first wife and children.

Michelle; Sørens second wife Sidse Jensdatter was buried Dom. 23 - that means Domenica 23 and it is implied after Trinitatis. If you look at the top it says Dom. 2 p. Trin just under May. The 23rd Sunday after Trinitatis in 1769 would be the 29th October see Family Search Calender

The newborn boychild was buried Dom. 26 - November 19th. And the girl in her 2nd year Dom. 27 - November 26th. It must be Inger baptized Dom. 23 1768 - november 6th. I don't see Marie?

Søren and Bodil were betrothed Dom. 26 - November 19th and married Dom. Sep. 1770 - February 11th. Ole was baptized Dom.15 1770 - September 23rd 1770. It was generally accepted to have sex as long as they were betrothed, so nothing wrong herelaugh

Yes, it was quick to marry again, but the farm was dependent on a woman, so it was quite normal to remarry shortly after a spouse's death. Besides Søren needed someone to look after the newborn boy, Inger, and Marie.

At Søren's and Sidse' wedding Dom. 5 p Trin 1765 - June 23rd  Søren Jensen E(nke]m(and) og P.(ige) Sidse Jensdatter i Wærløse.

Søren Jensen W(idover) and G(irl) Sidse Jensdatter i Wærløse.

Thank you Ole.

I presume that this is the death of Søren's first wife - 5th entry for 1765 -

It is all very interesting!!

It must be and then Søren remarried Sidse in June. Probably he had married the first wife, when she became a widow, so that he could have the farm.

Ole Sørensen's wife was Marie Jensdatter. Her parents were Jens Nielsen and Margrethe Hansdatter.  I need help with Jens' father Niels - is his surname Hansen or Jensen?

I have proposed a merge with mine and another profile that seem to represent the same Jens.

My profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nielsen-2672

Another profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nielsen-2671

Thank you Ole :  )

I read it as Hansen and have transcribed it at Danish FamilySearch as that.
Thank you.

It was interesting to look at the probate you added for Bodil. Would you please be able to translate it for me.

I do not know how to navigate the probates. Would you please be able to check if my 3rd great grandfather Niels Olsen had one.

Much appreciated!!

I have send you the important parts from Bodil's probate.

Probates are difficult, I think frown

Normally I use Fæster og skifter to see if the probates and tenants' contracts have been transcribed, but the site is only in Danish. If it is not there you will have to find the authorities at the time and place for the death and then search the National Archive to find whether it is online or you will have to go to the archive yourself.

I will do that for Niels Olsen and let you know if I succeed.

Hi Michelle,

The christening record doesn't mention any mother. (None of the other records on the page do either.) The first name after information about Ole himself is the person who held him at the baptism: Margrethe Hansdatter. The rest of the names are the other witnesses.

Even if I'm not used to Danish research, I believe Ole's father should be called Søren which would make Ole's patronymic Sørensen.

Kind regards,

Maria

But perhaps we should wait to see if we get a reply from a Danish researcher smiley

Although wikipedia seems to agree with my guess. smiley

Thank you for this info. I found information on my great-great grandfather and I will now be able to find so much more with the Danish Family Search. I created and account, so now I'll be able to get all kinds of information.
