We are connected to each other for16 steps through a Doty/Jackson marriage connection, but are not blood kin.

15 for me, through marriage if I'm reading it correct.  His son, Alexander who married Desire Doty.  Desire's brother, Edward Doty is a direct relative of mine.  Looks like Edward is my 10x great grandfather?  Interesting....

Today 25 Nov 2020 Wikitree said I am 10 degrees from Myles Standish. My 7th gt grandfather Stephen Bryant served in Duxbury militia with Myles. There is much dispute about whether my 6th gt grandfather Stephen Bryant jr. married Myle's granddaughter Mehitable Standish or Mehitable Lucas. Would consider comparing DNA with his descendants if I just had an expert to do it.

Henry Samson is my 12th great grandfather too. The 2 families married. The Samsons and Standishes had offspring that married and thru those marriages I actually have 4 ancestors who came on the 1st Mayflower voyage.
