Why doesn't the spouse show on public view for private profile with public tree?

This profile is not showing his wife, Ann Logue, yet both profiles are set to private with public family tree.

Is it due to a living hidden child's profile?

How can we get the spouse to show up?  The deceased child shows both parents.

Toggling the hide spouse flag did not help.

The help page for privacy reads for public tree:

Exactly like Private profiles except that relatives are visible if the relative also has a public family tree. For example, if a child has a public family tree but their mother does not it will say "[private mother]" on the child's profile and family tree pages.

I would expect a spouse to be considered a relative.

If this is the desired behavior, then let's update the help page to further read (added part in red):

Exactly like Private profiles except that relatives (other than any spouses) are visible if the relative also has a public family tree. For example, if a child has a public family tree but their mother does not it will say "[private mother]" on the child's profile and family tree pages.

Since I would expect a spouse to be considered a relative, especially since the spouse is still discoverable if you go to a child with a public tree, you can find the spouse.

Yellow lock profiles, even with public tree, don't seem to show spouses.  Green lock should - but that means a public biography as well as tree.
I believe that would be a bug if it is happening everywhere on Wikitree.
I don't believe it is a bug, but is related to privacy.

I think Melanie is right. The privacy explanation box in an orange border near the bottom of the profile says:

"Only the Trusted List can access the following:

  • Charles's formal name
  • ...
  • spouse's name and marriage information"

So it looks as if this may be deliberate: a "feature", not a bug.

I would expect a spouse to be considered a relative.

.

The public profile view is geared to the viewer, most of whom will not be relatives, not those on the Trusted List.

Example - I created a profile for my first father-in-law.  I am, therefore, the Profile Manager - and, by default, on the Trusted List.  I know who his wife was -  because I also created a profile for her.

When I view either of those profiles using the PUBLIC view, (using the father-in-law for this example) all I see is :

Born 1910s.

Son of [father unknown] and (redacted)

[sibling(s) unknown]
 Descendants descendants
Father of (redacted)

Died 1990s.

.

No wife.  It's as though -- in the public view -- she doesn't exist.

If I switch back to the normal view for me as PM, I see everything I have added, including the spouse.

This is not a bug.  It is working as it was designed to do.

If you want the spouse to show on public view, consider how much of the biography, etc, you wish known to the casual viewer, and lower the privacy level to green - or open.

This is the only thing I can think of that may be what's happening...

When your on Charles profile, select the "Edit" tab, then under the Spouses select the link that should state "[edit marriage to Ann]"...

In that screen, make sure that the button/box for "Do Not Display" is NOT selected/checked off. If that is selected, the spouse will not be displayed.

I don't believe that this needs to be done for the other spouse too.

Good Luck! :-)

I tried turning that on and then back off again already and it did not help.
Then this must be tied to the privacy (as already mentioned)...

The following is a brief description...

Yellow Lock Icon: Partially private information. This means that the most sensitive aspect of something is protected but a limited version is made available.

... from the following WikiTree Help link.

So shouldn't we update the help page as my question proposes?
was that the question? I thought you were asking why it doesn't show?

tl;dr
