Is anyone closer than 19 degrees from Janis Joplin?

I am connected to Janis Joplin for 19 degrees.through two marriages.

We are also 12th cousins, once removed.  Common ancestor: Adam Winthrop.

I'm 19 degrees also. But what I noticed was that my connection to both her and Jimi Hendrix involved my Jeter ancestors, so I used the Connection finder for the two of them and they are 18 degrees apart with only ONE marriage link in the path.

These connections are really neat. We are 18 degrees apart through a Mowery connection (Sarah Mowery's marriage to Senator Robert Hanna). We are also 12th cousins twice removed, as we are Winthrop descendants. (I am a Fones descendant, she was not.)

I am 17 degrees from Janice Joplin. We are 8th cousins. This does not surprise me. She's from my grandfather's side, the Hawkins, and his family  were  Appalachian Old Timey Musicians. Appalachian old timey music is disappearing if not already.
