How can I find out the ED number for Southbridge, Massachusetts in the U.S. 1910 census [closed]

One of my relatives lived at 18 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA for about two decades until his death there in 1913. He had four single adult daughters living with him. I have not been able to locate them in the U.S. 1910 census.  The Steve Morse ED finder only narrows it down to 20 ED's for Worcester. Southbridge is not listed as a separate town for this census. Is there any other way to narrow down what the ED would be, so I can browse the records?

Oops, I think I have just solved my own problem. Using the browse census feature in Ancestry, I find Southbridge is listed there and has 8 ED's. Better than having to browse 20 or more. Now just have to find Hamilton Street. Jim

Searching family search 1910 census for Pierre finds the following record with his children, stating he was widowed at the time. Image is available.

Easy access to all US Census from that page, if you have a specific year you are looking for. Just select year, on family search page, enter name. I then select residence and enter the location with nothing more initially.

Hello Linda,  Thank you so much, Yes, that's the correct family. The daughter's names are mangled a bit, but I am used to seeing that. It's a French Canadian family.  I get hung up using Ancestry's search engine as I find that often the census search feature at FamilySearch does not have very good indexing nor phonetic type searches as Ancestry does. I should have gone back and tried FamilySearch. Ancestry let me down this time. I tried the father and then various daughters and it did not find any of them. You have saved me a lot of image browsing, I really appreciate it. It appears that Southbridge came under the Sturbridge District as they are so close. I had considered that, but didn't try it. Be safe. Jim
Frequently I enter only a last name when i know a town.  Glad it helped. I keep that page bookmarked

FamilySearch has enumeration district maps at https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2329948

They are divided by state and city. However, it seems you need to browse the images to find the map you need.

Thank you George: I was not aware of these maps. Sooo, do I browse 1000's of map  images or just 8 ED's. Looks like browsing the 8 ED's for Southbridge will be much quicker, but I'll file the new knowledge of these maps away if I ever need them. Usually the Steve Morse tool is very good.

Cheers, stay safe. Jim

I’ve used this tool, it can be really helpful if you have an address:  https://stevemorse.org/census/unified.html

Hi Kathie:

Thank you for taking the time to answer this question.  I am well aware of Steve Morse's ED finder, but in this case for the 1910 U.S. Census, it does not let you use street addresses and only narrowed it down to 20 different ED's. Best wishes, Jim

Unified Census ED Finder
(Obtaining the Census Enumeration District for an 1880 to 1950 Location in One Step)

This site is clutch!

Edit: oh wait, you mentioned it in your question (there needs to be a "don't wikitree uncaffeinated" rule)

Hello Heather. Thank you for your answer. I am well aware of Steve Morse's ED Finder and use it frequently, but with Southbridge, MA in the 190 U.S. Census, it will not accept street addresses and only narrows it to 20 different ED's. Best wishes, Jim
