Pvt. John William Bangle (1844 - 1925) 106th N.Y. Co F. Captured; Wounded at “Battle of Monocacy”

Question

Private John William Bangle is a civil war veteran having served with the 106th New York Company F. When he was just 18 years of age he enlisted to serve his country at Massena, New York on July 27, 1862. He was captured in action and paroled April 29, 1863 in Fairmont, Va. John was wounded July 9, 1864 during  the “Battle of Monocacy”  and mustered out July 13, 1865 at Finley Hospital in Washington D.C. 

We need help adding sources and connecting him to the Wikitree family.

Note: His brothers Joseph and Lewis served in Company F and died during service. Levi Bangle served with 32nd New York Co. A and survived. Upon further review he was in the 92nd N.Y.  Need Levi’s enlistment date with muster out date.

Looking over the excellent sources you found. I can see he had many impairments disabilities listed from the war. I wonder what the abbreviation “GSW” is interpreted as?

I don’t think Joseph Bangle Jr or Lewis Bangle were ever married. No wives or kids.

5 boys from the family served. The two who died in service I doubt were married or had kids although possible.

The mother has her name engraved her on grave stone as a Mary A.S. and inscription says wife of Joseph Bangle but I’m having a hard time sourcing her. 

I added cemetery categories to the 5 sons they sent to the civil war and created the new cemetery Sybil Lake cemetery in Vergas Minnesota for Alexander (Elick) as none had been on wiki. 

A huge civil war family!
