he was a sailor at one time. he moved to texas and married a Fannie Elisabeth Jung Sep. 6 1885, in 1890 he killed a man over a property dispute in Nacogdoches county Texas  then went on the run never to be seen again. there is a possibility he was the product of a "paternity event".

yes but it makes no mention of the parents of charles. only that he was born in philly. i'm asking for help finding that information in response to a posting by someone belonging to the DNA detectives facebook group of which i am also a member. i'm personally not related to the person i am asking about.

There is mention of a Charles Rivers in the area of Nacogdoches as early as 1867-68 when he purchased, along with James Loving, 12,000 cattle from a Mr Slaughter. This Charles Rivers was killed by indians (possibly cherokee) in Jackson County in June 1871. Father or relative? Reference: Indian Wars and Pioneers of Texas by John Henry Brown, page 713 - found by searching for "Charles Rivers" + Nacogdoches. Also there is a pedigree file that shows that there was a Joseph Rivers born on December 14 1846, in Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches, Texas, USA though he moved to Louisianna it my hint at the Rivers family having been established in the area. Joseph was father of a Thomas Jefferson Rivers (1868-1945)

it never dawned on me that the one killed by indians might have been Sr and the one who murdered over land was Jr.

thanks for the idea
