Edward (Elliott???) Cochran probably was my 5th GGF, based on 1810 United States Federal Census thru:

Preston Kendrick Cochran Sr 1767-1843 Son of Edward Cochran

Lewis Lee Cochran 1808-1875 Son of Preston Kendrick Cochran Sr

Polly Ann Cochran 1833-1876 Daughter of Lewis Lee Cochran

James Monroe Martin Jr. 1859-1900 Son of Polly Ann Cochran

Isaac Shelby Martin 1878-1921 Son of James Monroe Martin Jr.

Thomas Ray Martin 1904-1974 Son of Isaac Shelby Martin

Thomas Hughes Martin Son of Thomas Ray Martin

I have posted on the profile of Isaac Shelby as the mother shown appears to be incorrect per his death record.    Let me spend some time on this lineage.   Also, it appears that you have confused his mother with his grandmother.   I am leaving notes...if you would like, I can do the updates.

Here’s what I think:

12 Apr 1852 JM Martin Sr. (1834-1901) married Polly Ann Cochran (1833-1876)

4 Jun 1859 JM Martin Jr. (1859-1900) was born to PA Cochran

12 Apr 1877 JM Martin Jr. (1859-1900) married SJ Ross (born abt 1856-57)

21 Aug 1878 IS Martin was born about 16 months later to SJ Ross 

1880-1882 SJ Ross died sometime

15 Apr 1883 JM Martin Jr. married Mary Elizabeth Cochran 

The relationship between Polly Ann Cochran (1833-1876) and Mary Elizabeth Cochran (1861-1937) is unknown.

My guess is that Polly A and Mary E were cousins of some degree, but of different generations.
