Comments on James Pleasant Morgan

I would also recommend removing [[Morgan-271|John Morgan]] as his father. This John Morgan, along with his children listed above, all show from Groton, CT. I believe his father would be [[Morgan-16362|John Thomas Morgan]] from North Carolina. The wives (Rebecca) should also be merged. I have in my family tree (unproven 4th great grandfather) James Pleasant Morgan b. 1772 in Moore, NC, d. 26 Jul 1848 in Moore, NC. My James has as his wife Elizabeth Sheffield b. 1773 in NC, d. 22 Aug 1826. This could take an expert to straighten out.

I looked around and did not find a james Pleasant Morgan in Wilcox, AL.  Neither profiles have sources.

Items were purchased by the following: Myles Jordan, Pleasant S. Morgan, George Morgan, Mrs. Morgan (widow), Col. J. Morrison, James Morgan, Sampson Brewer, Thomas Brown and Miles Muse.

1851, May 1 -- 1851-1853 County Court Minutes, Moore County, NC Page 34 James G. Morgan and others v. W.T. and G.J. Morgan and others. Judgements awarded to James G. Morgan, Joseph B. Morgan, Jackson J. Morgan, Pleasant Morgan, Noah Richardson [Administrator of Josiah Cockman Dec'd.], Tilly G. Harvill and Webby Morgan. [ Note: heirs of James Morgan Dec'd.]

Thank You Sandra, As I indicated in my initial post, I believe I am a direct descendant of James Pleasant Morgan. I wanted to get this straight before I added the rest of what I have to complete this line. First, the 2 profiles that I referred to are now one. One was an orphan and the other is managed by Betty Rodgers. She completed the merge today. The Geni profile you linked to is even stranger than the ones here on Wikitree. It has 3 James Pleasant Morgans with the 2 fathers that were formerly linked here. I have a Geni account but I don't use it anymore. (don't really like it) Since this comment will hopefully be viewed by any number of Wikitreers (is that a word?), maybe we can figure this all out. My ideas: James had 2 wives; first was Elizabeth Sheffield b 1773 NC, my tree says she died in 1826, however, some others show Rebecca Maness b 1785 - 1788, d 1865 or 1885. The Rebecca managed by Mike Claunch shows she married about 1805. This, logically, would mean that Elizabeth would have died c1804 with young children so James married asap to Rebecca. I saw 1 tree on Geni that shows this. IF this is indeed correct, that would make some sense of some things.

My line (that I have in my tree) shows Lois Smith (my mother) d/o Oma Isabel Morgan d/o James Monroe Morgan s/o George Morgan s/o James Lewis Morgan s/o James Pleasant Morgan. Now, all the records / trees I've looked at here and Geni don't show James Pleasant with a son named James Lewis. I do see James Goodwin Morgan and John L. Morgan. However, neither of these sons match my James Lewis (dates, wife, etc.). Could it be that my information is wrong in that James Pleasant is not the father of my James Lewis? My info also show James Lewis had 2 brothers, Martin b 1796 and Mark b 1800, sons of Elizabeth. I hope this helps. NEVER MIND, I found my James Lewis Morgan's parents, John Morgan and (Sarah) Elizabeth Smith.
