How do I correct or delete a mistake between relatives and their relations

Hi Carman. Generally speaking, you can edit relationships in the right hand column of the Edit window of a profile. For example, you can add/remove child or add/remove spouse. When you click on one of these links, a new window will open. Usually at the bottom of that window is a section to remove a relative.

Relationship changes, especially removing one, should only be done by adding sources to the profiles to prove that there is a different relationship or why that relationship is incorrect. Changing relationships with a source, other than a family tree of some sort, is the recommended way, but communication is also important. Adding research notes to affected profiles and / or comments is important.

Good advice in general, Linda! But it looks as if in this case Carman wants to correct a mistake in relationships between profiles which she created and no one else has edited. So there isn't a need for communication or research notes this time.

With no profile attached to the question, it is a general question. I don't 'assume' that someone is referring to any profile specifically, unless the profile is mentioned.

Unfortunately, a lot of new members ask this question, or don't ask and just change something on existing profiles, without leaving any explanation or sources.
