Providence, Province of Maryland

Having just discovered Wikitree Categories, I've created a category [[Providence, Province of Maryland]] as a subcategory of Province of Maryland.  Its focus is on the period from the founding of settlements on the Severn River in 1649 to the end of Maryland's Civil War in 1660.  As I add each reference that cites names of settlers, I'm checking Wikitree to see which of those persons has a profile, and adding the category to their profile -- so that their profile links shows up on the page.  Since these people interacted a lot, I hope this will be useful to the managers of each profile.  If you have ancestors in early Anne Arundel County, Maryland, come join me!

Thanks.  It appears The Province of Maryland was an English and later British colony in North America that existed from 1632 until 1776,  Do you know when it is proper to use Maryland Colony?  I see this often in Wikitree.
My vote is that it is never appropriate to use "Maryland Colony" just as it is never appropriate to use "British Colonial America" since the WikiTree policy is to honor, as much as possible, the usage of the people who lived at the time.  Every document that I've seen dating to the colonial period refers either to Maryland, or to Province of Maryland, so that's the phrase I encourage for entry in the data field on WikiTree for all Maryland dates prior to July 4th, 1776!
