Uploaded image not visible on open profile

I had scanned a page of an old family bible as proof for birth dates of a mid-1700s couple with open profiles. After I had entered all the required information and saved it, it was nowhere to be found. Thinking the upload failed I tried again but was told it already existed and gave a link of Balch-275.jpg. Clicking the link gave a red lock icon.  Nowhere on the profile is anything to click to see the image. I can see it if I look at changes so how do I make it appear on the profile for others to see?

A Red Lock means the picture is private.

I'm not sure how but it needs to be made public in order to be seen on the profile.

I think you may have to go into the edit mode for the photo and find the editing section and check or uncheck if it is private or not. There is usually a little box with a tick.

I THINK!!

If this is not correct, hopefully someone else can explain how to fix it. Most of my pics are public so I dont have this problem.

There was nothing in edit mode to change image privacy level but I found a workaround. Probably not the most elegant but I pasted this into the reference for the bible and it made the image appear there.

{{Image|file=Balch-275.jpg
|caption=Birthdates from Balch Bible
}}

What are the actual  dimensions of the image?  Filesize is only one thing, but width and height matter as well.
For whatever reason, it's not attached to a profile so that's why it's red private. If a photo isn't attached to a profile, it will eventually be deleted.

I've re-attached the photo to Balch-275's profile, so the photo is public again.
Thanks. I see now that even though it is not a picture of a person you have to have the profile ID present to link it.
Now that makes sense. Pretty much all my photos are uploaded to one of my profiles. That's why they don't go private.

Thanks Jamie.
If you're not wanting the image to double up (show on the right side of the profile and be placed in the biography),you'll need to have it on another profile, or a free space page.  (Lots of us use space pages just for that reason.)
