updating via GEDCOM

Question

I'd like to do a quick and easy update of my entire tree. I can export an updated GEDCOM using The Master Genealogist.  Can I do that and delete the old Wikitree?  I don't want to have to merge and edit people. I'm already maintaining one tree on TMG and one on Ancestry... which helps me find other people. I'd rather kill this version of the tree, and upload a fresh one.

Since WikiTree is a collaborative environment, it's not the same as managing your own tree on your desktop. If it were only your tree, you could delete, replace, whatever. But here, we're all working on one tree. If you delete profiles you could be deleting what other people are seeing and editing and connecting with their own families.

So, for my clarification, a GEDCOM import is a good way of initially populating the Wiki, but once on the site, all updates will have to be done manually.

That's correct, Nik. Assuming your family line isn't already on WikiTree, a GEDCOM gives you a leg up in getting them on the site. But once on the site, you can't do an automated import again.
