Question

The England Project is an exciting place to be at the moment! We have a few hundred active members improving and creating English Profiles. We have a strong sense of community, and a team structure where members work in their areas of interest. Amongst our activities we connect, source, and improve bios within our County Teams, we correct data errors, improve old Gedcom profiles, and encourage One-name and One-place studies.

Does this sound like something you would like to be part of?

Your England Project membership will begin with our unique Orphan Trail team (OT) which should take less than a month to complete. The OT helps you learn about building and formatting English profiles using English sources right back to 1700. It will empower you to research your own English ancestors!

We do ask that you make the OT a priority in your Wikitreeing activity to be able to complete it in a timely manner. If you know you won't be able to give it your full attention now, please apply to join the England Project at a more suitable time for you.

During the OT, we get to learn more about you and what your interests are. Once you have finished the OT you will join one of our other teams and make connections with members who share your own interests.

PLEASE NOTE: if you are just looking for help with specific ancestors in England, and don't wish to take the Orphan Trail and become active in the England Project, then post a message in G2G tagged ENGLAND and one of our helpful England Project team members will try to assist you :)

I'm willing to help if you have any Staffordshire profiles that are orphan I will adopt them and I will take care of them until we find the proper families I am very much so a member of a family who comes from the region of Staffordshire the West Midlands

Just a follow up support comment to those of you who are interested in joining the England Team.

I joined the Team in 2019 and have never regretted it! Doing the OT was one of the best learning experiences for me. It enhanced my WT skills searching for and writing profiles for my ancestors from England, as well as for my ancestors in the United States.

All this on top of working with an outstanding group of colleagues from England and the UK! I cannot credit them enough. You will truly hone your skills with this team.

I wish to join the  England project, I was advised this is the way to pre 1500 entries. From what I have read it is a stepping stone to this goal.

I hope to learn a fair bit on the way.

Hi, I would like to join the England Project.  I have many English ancestors, and while I have entered many of them on Wikitree, I am sure many of them are not properly formatted.  I would like to learn proper formatting, and also improve my research skills.

I am back at performing genealogy research after a 2 yr hiatus because of a drug-toxicity resulting in severe visual handicap.  My eyes have recovered and I can now see like I did 15 years ago after cataract surgery/  I would like to join the England project as the majority of my ancestors came from either England, Scotland, or Ireland.
