William H. and William C. Price (same people?) [closed]

Question

William H. and William C. Price appear to represent the same person. Both of them were born in similar years at the same place, they both married the same woman and have the same last name, both died in the 1860’s in Virginia, and their parents (on Ancestry.com) are both Richard Price and Lavinia Price (Drake).

Comments

These men were on opposite sides of the war.  One was shot and killed by Union solders and the other served in the Union army.  The death dates of 1861 and 1865 are documented on both profiles.

It looks to me like the are different people and that one of them is attached to the wrong wife.  Since one profile doesn't have any sources, it is difficult to tell for certain.  That profile needs to be sourced before a determination can be made.

I believe they are the same people, as on William C. Price’s page it gives one of his children as “John Baron 1857-1909” and on William H.’s he has the same child. On my family tree on Ancestry, the both have the same parents and they both lived in the same places. I will try to find more resources for more information to put on both of their profiles.

It is possible that William Clay Price is attached to the wrong wife (and child) and that the wrong parents are mentioned on his profile.  Based on what I am seeing online it looks like his parents could be John Wesley Price and Mary Louvina.  Also, his wife could be Mary Jane Hart.  Due to the similarity in all of the names they appear to have been mixed up in a number of online trees.  It's going to take digging for sources to sort the two men out.
